Information technology'south only over 2 hours long and I listened while weeding - I can't say I specially enjoyed it, but there were some thinking points and it did brand me appreciate not being married to an a***h*** so there'southward that.

Stay-calm Dad Cam is devastated to discover that his wife has been having an affair. He reflects back on how he and Holly had It all - bang-up careers, a mutually passionate relationship, travel and a swell social life. Then they had children and everything inverse. When confronted, Holly is initially defensive, so remorseful until Cam makes a foolish mistake - can they repair the cracks in their in one case-Perfect marriage?

This was all told from Cam's point of view - and the author does a good chore in shifting our sympathies back and forth as we discover more about what'due south been going on: yous feel pitiful for him until he reveals how thoughtless and selfish he is, then she behaves like a complete cow and you wonder how they tin telephone call this love. The narrator does a practiced chore with the different voices simply existence party to a couple's verbal sparring is not exactly a proficient time. I wasn't sure which way this was heading simply did think the ending was realistic, if not happy.

I DNFd it with less than an hour to go because I did not care what happened to these dull, whiney, tedious people. The book was free, but no-1 can give me that hour and a half of my life back.

Loved Stephen Back-scratch as the narrator. I didn't like the story, simply the delineation and portrayal of characters was excellent. However, I disliked the adult characters immensely. Information technology was a quick story to mind to during Sunday housework.

I listened to this novella on Audible. Stephen Curry is the perfect narrator for this short and steamy story.

This review has been hidden considering it contains spoilers. To view information technology, click here. Later on having a productive yr listening to audio books I was not bad to listen to Zoe's new book made peculiarly for aural!

Here are my thoughts as I read:
-Enjoying Steven Curry's narration. Proficient to listen to a male person's perspective this way.
-Felt strange that Cam waited and so long to confront Holly about her infidelity. (N.B this makes sense later as to why)

Here are my thoughts as I read:
-Enjoying Steven Curry'southward narration. Good to listen to a male's perspective this way.
-Felt foreign that Cam waited then long to confront Holly about her infidelity. (N.B this makes sense after on every bit to why)
-Exploration of female guilt for not being at home with the kids and projecting that on to a partner. In addition, birth trauma and PND, and then hard to be on Cam'due south side when he reflects on non being there for Holly.
-The complication of children becomes clear and the unlike opinions of staying together for the children or separating for them.
-Genuinely believed that both characters wanted to make information technology work as the story seems to take a positive shift.
-Dramatic reveal by Cam that unravels all the happiness of a week.
-There was an incredibly stupor filled ending. I wanted to believe that Holly had ended it with Wayne, just like I idea Cam had done in the past. I was disappointed that there was really a resolution later it all but thought information technology was so clever how chop-chop a happy ending can be snatched away in a judgement.

I thought this novella was cracking. Non necessarily an 'piece of cake' listen - it makes you twitch listening to how destructive relationships can be. It's a cruel dissection of an unhealthy human relationship and how they tin unravel despite the intentions (at least occasionally) to gear up information technology. Stephen Curry was an first-class narrator choice. You can really tell the departure in having an actor rather than a narrator - much more than of a operation. I thought this novella was bang-up. I downloaded this volume for free in Aural. Zoë has put out some good books and I liked the thought of a novella: short and sweetness. Except this wasn't then sweet. I enjoyed the writing of this book and the narration. But that'southward most it. I really disliked this, I listened on Aural considering it was gratuitous, I wish I hadn't wasted my time. This should accept been called "why narcissists shouldn't breed".

Holly and Cam are horrible people, and in that location was nothing to like about this short. I but kept listening to see if things got better. They had to become better, right?

Incorrect. So, so incorrect!

Kudos to Stephen Curry for his narration, the ane expert thing I take to say.

I am merely glad that this was a freebie and didn't spend my hard earned on it - and I NEVER say that

My start book of 2021, this is a short novella about a couple that have discovered that they have both been unfaithful in their relationship, they decide that this gives them both a clean slate and this story follows the husband before the discovery, during the discovery and how they handle it after the discovery.

4 stars for being two hours of realistic writing of a fighting, cheating couple who don't really like each other and both suck. One star for enjoyability. While I enjoyed the idea of a couple finding out they simultaneously cheated, this book left a bad gustatory modality in my mouth and unfortunately a big office was that hearing the narrator do different voices for each grapheme was extremely distracting and comical.

The characters aren't very likeable, but I also think this would have done a lot improve had the perspectives been shifting between the two. Cam made Holly seem very ane dimensional and awful, even crazy at times 😕

I really liked how it was structured, but overall the writing isn't very engaging and non due to a lack of activity - there was enough of activity. It's more that the writing was rarely insightful, barely always used descriptive imagery (unless to describe and objectify Holly's for her appearance ofc 😀) and had very poor character evolution. Holly and Cam's voices likewise sounded very similar.

Merely a bit of a bad read tbh - simply hey, it gratis and two hours long, and then if you lot wanna knock off a book from your reading goal and exist reminded of what writing y'all DON'T enjoy? Why not

I actually enjoyed this short story. Written by an Aussie, prepare in Australia, narrated by an Australian - really good philharmonic.

And overwhelmingly - I just felt sorry for the whole family. Stuff happens and so you have to deal with it; how do you love again, how do you trust, who practice you talk to, what roles does social media play in these suspension downs?

I found that this volume was short but it did brand me recall about things - and that is ever the sign of a good read.

2 and a one-half hours of a couple trying to justify to themselves that information technology was okay that they're both unhappy in their marriage so the answer was to cheat? Weird book!

I empathize what information technology'due south trying to testify, that relationships are difficult, spousal relationship is messy and that infidelity is bad but that sometimes y'all demand to work through stuff and get to the other side.
